      Why they differ

      Where your sodium comes from

Both gels give you 30 g of carbohydrate from maltodextrin and fructose at 2 to 1. That mix lets a trained stomach go past the 60 g an hour that glucose alone allows, up to about 90 g.

C30 puts 200 mg of sodium in every gel, so your sodium goes up and down with your carbs. At 2 gels an hour you get 400 mg, and at 3 an hour you get 600 mg.

PF 30 has no sodium. Whatever sodium you plan to take comes from your drink or a separate electrolyte, and you can change it without changing your carbs.

      Questions and next steps

What runners ask about these 2 gels

Do I need extra sodium with PF 30 gels?

PF 30 has no sodium, so any sodium in your plan has to come from your drink or a separate electrolyte product. Each C30 gel brings 200 mg.

Do C30 and PF 30 use the same carb ratio?

Yes. Both mix maltodextrin and fructose at 2 to 1 and carry 30 g of carbohydrate per gel.

How many C30 or PF 30 gels should I take an hour?

The count is the same for both. At 2 gels an hour you get 60 g of carbs, about the limit for an untrained stomach. Taking 3 an hour gives you 90 g, which takes a stomach trained with fueling practice.
